MINUTES OF STYVECHALE GRANGE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION
LOCATION – Zoom (Virtual Meeting)
DATE – 4th February 2021
PRESENT – John Archer – Chairman, Councillor John Blundell, Mick Fitzpatrick – Treasurer, Sheila Weare – Minutes Secretary
Plus 12 members of the Association.
WELCOME – John A welcomed members and hoped everyone was safe and well.
COUNCILLOR JOHN BLUNDELL – Animal Pound and Centenary Celebrations: Coventry City Council have erected a ‘danger’ notice at the pound. John is making enquiries as to who is responsible for the repair to the fractured wall, particularly bearing in mind its proximity to the War Memorial Park and the forthcoming centenary celebrations. SGRA will continue to lobby the Council in order to get the work carried out. Priory Centre: John is making enquiries about progress. Finham Library: the building work is almost complete. Finham Library Action Group (FLAG) have received funding from Coventry City Council to carry out some modifications to transform the library into a multi-purpose library and community hub. Grange Farm School were shortlisted in the ‘Seeds of Joy’ competition and as a runner up were awarded £1,000 from Higgidy Kitchen (the sponsors). Cycle Lane, Charter Avenue: This continues to be a controversial matter. John is currently campaigning for a safer city with 20 mph speed restrictions on many roads, utilising additional street furniture and signs. Various ideas were discussed. John has highlighted this with the appropriate Cabinet member and advised it will be a lengthy process.

MINUTES – The minutes of the meeting on 3rd December 2020 were presumably accepted.
MATTERS ARISING – Speedwatch and Litter Picks are not presently allowed, (Covid-19) however two members from the same household offered to carry out a litter pick the following weekend. Animal Pound - John A confirmed SGRA are trying to ascertain who is responsible for the repair of the wall. The Meadow – SGRA are still trying to ascertain ownership and conditions of tenure. It is hoped to subsequently establish a wildflower meadow. John B is seeking to clarify the status of the meadow. Could ‘Friends of the Meadow’ be included within the auspices of SGRA?
LOCAL POLICE UPDATE – Crime figures for Wainbody Ward for December 2020 and January 2021 were 56 and 71 respectively, but no breakdown is known. Wainbody has a new Police Inspector, Victoria Stott.
