Memorial Park Pillars
By 1932 Outdoor lidos were now gaining in popularity across the country and the council sought to identify another site which might be suitable to build an open-air pool. The site needed to be relatively clear of major factories but also needed a consistent supply of water. One site investigated was an area of the War Memorial Park, which was already owned by the Corporation. Several test boreholes were dug, but they were unable to locate a supply of water and the plan was abandoned.
